A stop at Blue Jacket Dairy is more than just a quick errand—it’s the start of a day worth savoring. Whether you’re picking up your favorite cheeses or bringing out-of-town guests, Bellefontaine and its countryside offer small-town charm, good food, and hidden gems. We’re proud to partner with several local businesses that share our values of quality, craft, and community. Here’s how to make the most of your visit:
Explore Bellefontaine: A Culinary Adventure Awaits
Begin your adventure at our creamery. We’re open:
Mondays: 9 AM – 5 PM
Saturdays: 10 AM – 2 PM
Closed Sundays
📍 1434 County Road 11, Bellefontaine, OH 43311
If you're driving in from out of town or hoping to see cheesemaking in action, please call ahead to confirm production hours. Cheesemaking occurs several times a week, but it can vary from day to day.
If we’re not making cheese during your visit, stop in anyway. Our cooler is stocked and ready for you to browse and pick out your favorite cheeses.
After your stop at Blue Jacket Dairy, head over to 600 Downtown. This local favorite is great for lunch or dinner. Be sure to try the Leonidas Pizza—it's made with our Blue Jacket feta. This pizza is a perfect example of local ingredients coming together beautifully. 📍 108 S Main St, Bellefontaine, OH 43311
Features Blue Jacket feta
Just a short walk from 600 Downtown, Morning Riot Bakery is a must-visit. Known for its artisan breads, croissants, and pastries, some of their offerings feature our cheese. You'll find something delicious here! 📍 117 W Chillicothe Ave, Bellefontaine, OH 43311 (Access is also from Main Street, a few doors before the Poppy Seed shop).
Features Blue Jacket cheeses
Located right on Main Street, The Poppy Seed is part boutique, part salon, and all charm. They carry a curated selection of cute clothes, unique accessories, and thoughtful gifts. I (Angel) am a regular here—especially since my hairdresser is right in the back of the shop. My six-week rotation keeps me coming back! 📍 130 S Main St, Bellefontaine, OH 43311
Next, visit The Butcher & Market, a curated market offering creamline whole milk from Indian Creek Creamery—one of the local dairies we source from at Blue Jacket. You’ll also find quality meats, pantry staples, and grab-and-go options. 📍 101 N Main St, Bellefontaine, OH 43311
Delicious milk!
Finish your day with a cozy cup at Sweet Aromas Coffee in downtown. Find a seat near the courthouse fountain. Enjoy watching people, and take in the beautifully restored downtown shops. 📍 120 W Columbus Ave, Bellefontaine, OH 43311
Country Variety Store
Consider driving a few minutes north of town for bulk food deals and unique finds at the Country Variety Store. This Amish grocery store is a great place to stock your pantry with flours, spices, snacks, and baking goods. 📍 6260 US-68 N, Bellefontaine, OH 43311
Although they don’t carry our cheese, we won't hold it against them! Their handmade chocolates are simply too good to miss. Located in a restored train depot on U.S. 68, it’s worth the short drive south to West Liberty. 📍 311 Zanesfield Rd, West Liberty, OH 43357
Before heading out of town, stop by Wengers for fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. They offer a deli and a wide array of Ohio products. 📍 3836 County Road 29, West Liberty, OH 43357
Pro Tip: Bring a Cooler
With cheeses, milk, produce, and chocolate to bring home, we highly recommend tossing a cooler in the car. This way, you can explore at your own pace without worrying about your perishables.
A Memorable Experience Awaits
We hope you enjoy your time in our town. After all, we’re proud to be the highest point in Ohio. Later this summer, we’ll be releasing a brand-new cheese that pays homage to that very peak. Stay tuned… and stay hungry.
Lastly, be sure to let our friends at these local spots know we sent you. We’re all about supporting each other, and they’ll be glad to hear it came from us.
